Annual Assessment Training
MOT testers are obligated to do MOT assessment training every year, otherwise the MOT tester will be suspended. You must do this annually and pass an assessment between 1 April and 31 March every year to keep your tester status.
Here is what you are required to do;
- Decide how to do your training.
- Take at least 3 hours of training each year, and 16 hours in the rolling 5-year period.
- Keep a record of your training.
- Book your annual assessment.
- Take your annual assessment.
- Record your assessment result
Once you have past your assessment, you will receive your certificate. You can check if your MOT certificate has been uploaded by going on the UK government website.
The training
The government recommends that individuals take the Annual MOT Training with providers such as the Skills and Education Group. Our MOT Annual Training Course in our MTC Multi-skills Training Centre is based in Bradford and a member of the awarding body Skills and Education Group.
Our Training Centre offers the Annual MOT Training, with outstanding pass rates with our trainers that are master technicians with 30+ years experience in the industry.
What’s covered in the course ?
The Annual MOT Training Course is 3 hours in total. In the course the 3 main topics set out by DVSA will be covered. The individuals will then sit a test of 30 multiple-choice questions and this usually takes around 35 minutes.
The price of our annual assessment training course is £135.00
What happens if I fail the test?
The government says that if you do not pass, there’s no limit on how many times you can take the assessment during the same year.
If you don’t pass your assessment in the training year, you will need to do the training and pass the annual assessment on the next year’s topics. Once you have done the training you need to request and pass an MOT demonstration test. Your account will then be unsuspended. You will then need to call the DVSA and request your demonstration test.
Why is Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Important?
CPD training is important to everyone, as this enhances individuals to reinforce and enhance their current skills while reducing any knowledge shortfalls, whilst providing a competitive edge in times where needed. A planned CPD approach enables individuals to take charge of their career development and aspirations. Individuals, continuing their professional development not only benefits the individual but it also benefits employers too. For example; if a company allows staff to have CPD training, the individual will possibly be more motivated and more loyal towards the company.
