The MOT Managers course in MOT Test Centre Management has been developed in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency DVSA to give learners the knowledge and skills required to manage MOT Vehicle Test Centres.

WHO IS THIS QUALIFICATION FOR?

This qualification is primarily developed for learners who wish to run an MOT Vehicle Test Station (VTS), or who will have direct responsibility for MOT operations at the VTS in the future.

WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN TAKING THIS COURSE?

This qualification will be of interest to those individuals wishing to set up an MOT testing Station, or who may already be a MOT Tester and wish to advance their career further.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

WHAT WILL THE LEARNER STUDY AS PART OF THIS QUALIFICATION?

The content of this qualification has been designed to reflect the contents of the National Occupational Standards for MOT Managers.
The content covered includes:

  • Managing the legislative and compliance requirements of a VTS
  • Dealing with customer service problems and complaints
  • Developing and supervising staff within a test centre and test centre quality systems and audits.

APPROPRIATE CONTENT

The content of this qualification has been designed to cover the requirements for all prospective MOT Managers. It is based on the suite of National Occupational Standards (NOS) developed by the Skills and Education Group in conjunction with DVSA and the MOT industry in 2015.

EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT

This qualification is subject to externally set and externally marked assessment in the form of an online test delivered through the Skills and Education Group online testing platform.

The Skills and Education Group has therefore developed a bank of questions that will be randomly selected to cover the knowledge requirements of the qualification.

The test consists of 35 questions, to be answered in 75 minutes and spans the breadth of the content for each of the units.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The entry requirements for this qualification, you don not require any previous qualifications. As long as you have a good repute and you have your identification, you are eligible to take this course.

HOW LONG IS THE COURSE

The course is 24 hours in total, which is 2.5 days at our training centre in Bradford. The guided learning hours is 16 hours.
