The UK MOT testing industry has been shaken up recently as IMI reports that there’s 50,000 testers who still need to complete the CPD Training.

Drivers and testers should be well on the way to completing their UK’s Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training by now.

According to IMI, 290,000 of UK MOT testers have completed CPD training to date.

The DVSA has stated that they will not be extending the current year’s yearly training period, as they have in previous years.

As a result, you will be suspended from testing if you have not completed this year’s annual training by midnight Thursday 31 March 2022.

It is time to get a move on! The 31st of March deadline is fast approaching.

Laws and Regulations of CPD Training

In the UK, DVSA provide a set of guidelines for all UK driving testers.

It’s known as the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) rules and it basically makes sure that UK MOT testers are always up-to-date with changing laws, procedures and training.

UK CPD Training UK CPD training is a mandatory requirement for ALL MOT testers.

All technicians must have an annual reassessment of knowledge to remain competent to carry out MOT tests.

All MOT testing stations MUST provide a quality of CPD training that is at least equal to the UK national standard for UK CPD training.

This means CPD training must be used by all UK MOT testers as a benchmark.

MOT testers must ensure that they are adhering to the UK laws, rules and regulations of the CPD training.

If Mot testing station owners fail to comply with these rules they will risk their MOT Testing station being closed down by DVSA .
